About This Deal
The National Butterfly Center, a project of the North American Butterfly Association, sits on the Rio Grande in Mission and hosts the largest wild butterfly population in the country. Its field-trip program brings students outdoors for interactive lessons: Butterfly Life Cycle (experiencing metamorphosis through movement and learning about pollination), Bird is the Word (identifying birds by sight and sound), bug hunts, animal habitats, and reptile programs.
With advance notice the center will incorporate additional topics that support your learning goals — a natural fit for homeschool groups and co-ops building a unit study around the visit.
