A Fresh Look: New Listing Cards and Grouped City Guides

We rebuilt how you browse deals, and here's what changed

If you've visited HomeschoolDeals.org recently, things probably look different. That's on purpose. Over the past few weeks we tore apart our listing cards, city pages, and state pages and rebuilt them around one idea: show the deal first.

The old layout buried pricing inside paragraphs. You had to click into a listing to figure out whether it was free, discounted, or a special homeschool program. With over 500 listings across two states now, that wasn't going to cut it.

The New Listing Cards

Every listing card now leads with what matters most: what kind of deal it is and what it costs.

Homeschool Offer

A program built specifically for homeschool families: dedicated classes, group days, or curriculum-aligned workshops.

Homeschool Friendly

Venues that welcome homeschoolers with discounts, group rates, or weekday access, even if they don't run a formal program.

Nationwide Deal

Deals that work anywhere in the country, like Pizza Hut Book It!, Kids Bowl Free, or travel discounts.

Pricing now gets its own full-width row at the bottom of the card, so you don't have to click through to find out what something costs. The company or venue name is the first thing you read.

City Pages Are Now Grouped Guides

City pages used to be flat lists of every listing in the area. Fine when a city had ten listings, but Dallas-Fort Worth alone has over forty. A flat list doesn't help when you're trying to find a science museum for your eight-year-old.

Now every city page organizes listings by category: Museums and Science, Farms and Nature, Arts and Enrichment, Sports and Athletics, and so on. The page title tells you what's inside ("Dallas-Fort Worth Homeschool Programs & Activities" rather than a generic heading).

State pages got the same treatment. Each section groups by city and activity type, so you can scan the whole state at a glance and zero in on what interests your family.

Homepage: Orientation First, Search Second

The homepage now opens with a quick explanation of what Homeschool Deals is and how it works, before asking you to search. Free Homeschool Tools sit on a teal band and Homeschool Travel Deals on an amber one, so those resources have their own space instead of getting buried in the general directory.

Quick-filter chips let you narrow by deal type right on the homepage. The "Near Me" feature now uses your actual location to surface deals in your area, instead of guessing.

Built for What Comes Next

A directory is only useful if you can find things in it. With 500+ listings across two states, the old design was showing its seams. These changes aren't cosmetic. They're structural, built to handle continued growth without making browsing worse.

The system that classifies listings into deal types is the same one that powers the grouped pages and the card layout. When we add a new listing, it slots into the right place on its own.
