500 Listings and Counting: Texas Deepens, Florida Grows
From a DFW starter kit to a two-state directory with 500+ verified deals
We crossed 500 verified homeschool listings this week. Museums, farms, co-ops, enrichment programs, athletic leagues, venues that offer something real to homeschool families, all added one at a time over the past several months.
A few months ago, this directory was mostly Dallas-Fort Worth with some Austin and Houston sprinkled in. Today it covers every major Texas metro, most mid-size cities, and has a footprint across Florida that keeps growing.
Texas: 300+ listings across every major metro
Texas now has over 300 listings. The early focus was the DFW metroplex, and we've been working outward from there:
- Houston: The state's largest metro now has solid coverage, including science museums, performing arts, athletics, and nature programs.
- Waco, East Texas, Brazos Valley: Recent additions brought coverage to areas that don't get as much attention but have strong homeschool communities.
- Killeen, Temple, Belton: The Central Texas corridor around Fort Hood has a sizable military homeschool population, and we've added listings to serve them.
- Rio Grande Valley, Lubbock, Amarillo: West Texas and the Valley have fewer options, which is exactly why listing the ones that do exist matters.
300 is a number. What matters is whether those 300 are accurate: verified, current pricing, working contact information. We re-check listings regularly and have already removed duplicates and corrected outdated entries from earlier batches.
Florida: From Launch to 230+ Listings
We announced our Florida expansion earlier this year, starting with Miami, Orlando, and Tampa Bay. Since then, we've added listings across most of the state:
Cities Now Covered
- Jacksonville (20+ listings)
- Tampa Bay area
- Orlando metro
- Miami and South Florida
- Pensacola and Northwest Florida
- Space Coast
- Southwest Florida
What You'll Find
- Science centers and museums
- Nature and wildlife programs
- Homeschool co-ops and communities
- Arts and enrichment classes
- Athletic programs and leagues
- Historical sites and cultural venues
Jacksonville surprised us. The city has a deep bench of homeschool-friendly venues: the zoo, the arboretum, symphony programs, gymnastics facilities, and more we keep finding.
Nationwide Deals: The Hub Nobody Expected
Alongside the state-level work, we built a Nationwide hub for deals that aren't tied to any particular city. Pizza Hut Book It!, Kids Bowl Free, and a curated section of homeschool travel deals now live in their own space, available to any homeschool family in the US.
The travel deals section has been getting the most traffic. Families are drawn to the combination of travel discounts and educational value, and honestly, that makes sense.
What Comes After 500
The number 500 is nice, but the next push is about quality and reaching areas we haven't covered yet:
- Freshness sweeps: Regular re-checks to make sure pricing, hours, and contact details are current.
- More Florida cities: Tallahassee, Fort Lauderdale, and the smaller coastal communities.
- New states: We're researching expansion into states with large homeschool populations. More on that soon.
If you know a venue or program that should be listed, tell us. The best leads come from families who use these places.
